Hello,
We are installing a WiSM and for some reason the ap-manager interface is not accessible (cannot ping) however the management interface, which is in the same subnet, is accessible. I have tried adding a vlan tag to the ap-manager interface with no success, however, the management interface is accessible if I do not add a vlan tag (no tagging). Attached is the configuration.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

Remember, native VLAN means that the switch is expecting to receive the native VLAN id *untagged* Your config has the ap-manager interface tagged. Either change the native VLAN to something else (666 is a personal fav.) or untag all the wism interfaces that are going to be on vlan 40.

the AP maanger is always unpingable so there is nothing wrong with that.
