arp issues on Catalyst 6509 CatOS

I'm not sure how to interpret this display.

LB1X04> (enable) sh arp
ARP Aging time = 1200 sec
+ - Permanent Arp Entries
* - Static Arp Entries
default                                  at 70-f3-95-11-3e-04 on vlan 0
172.x.x.x                              at 00-1a-30-9a-8f-ff port  1/1 on vlan 11
172.x.x.x                              at 00-00-0c-07-ac-0c port  1/1 on vlan 11

why does "default" show up (I know, that 0.0.0.0 but why) for this particular MAC address and why is vlan 0 showing up?

(I've put "x" in place of subnets for privacy)

I'm seeing a lot of "default" entries, some with "vlan 0" and some with the actual port ID but I'm at my wits end trying to chase this.

What does this indicate?  Could this be VMWare causing arp issues on our network switches?

The MAC address 00-00-0c-07

The MAC address 00-00-0c-07-ac-xx is reserved for HSRP
