Welcome to this Cisco Support Community Ask the Expert conversation. This is an opportunity to learn and ask questions about how to fortify your LAN with Cisco Catalyst switching with expert Vaibhav Katkade.

Cisco subject matter expert Vaibhav Katkade also covers the various security features available on Cisco Catalyst switching platforms and how they can be used to block internal threats in enterprise networks.

This is a continuation of the live webcast.

Vaibhav Katkade is a product manager in Cisco's Enterprise Networking Group covering Cisco TrustSec and identity-based solutions on the Cisco Catalyst switching and ISR/ASR series routers. Prior to this, he was a software engineer on the Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series switching team, with experience on Layer 2 protocols, Layer 3 forwarding, Power over Ethernet, and system management. He has also worked as a software engineer at a WAN optimization startup, working on data deduplication algorithms. He has his master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California (USC).

Remember to use the rating system to let Vaibhav know if you have received an adequate response.

Because of the volume expected during this event, our experts might not be able to answer every question. Remember that you can continue the conversation in the Network Management community under subcommunity LAN, Routing and Switching shortly after the event. This event lasts through April 11, 2014. Visit this forum often to view responses to your questions and the questions of other Cisco Support Community members.

The SXP protocol from TrustSec is an IETF draft already: tools.ietf.org/html/draft-smith-kandula-sxp-00

ISE 1.3 will also export IP-SGT bindings with pxGrid APIs, and this will permit 3rd party network appliances to interoperate with the trustsec architecture

Yes, device profiling is supported on the WLC as well with AireOS WLC7.6 and later.

On the IOS-XE based controllers, it will be available in the IOS-XE 3.6.0E release.

Hello Vaibhav,

Thank you for covering this topic.  My question is - are there plans to make Cisco TrustSec an industry standard?

Jessica

Good question Jessica.  I am also curious.
