Re: associating a port with MAC address

Hi

You need to use port-security to restrict which mac-addresses can use that port.

I have attached a link to 3560 port seurity configuration which explains the concept of port security.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps5528/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a008081db10.html#wp1038501

If you have a different switch just search on Cisco for "switch type + port security"

Hi, [PLS RATE if HELPS]

As a continuation of Jon.Marshall post,

Cisco has very famous feature called port-security to restict Switch port access based on MAC-Address of clients connecting to it.

You can specify the Security feature in such a way like if somebody violate the Security you can instruct the Switch to Shutdown the Interface and only the Administrator can re-enable the port manually.

Refer link below for further understanding:

Re: associating a port with MAC address

Hi

You can use the mac-address-table static command. Attached is link for 3560 example.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps5528/products_command_reference_chapter09186a0080818708.html#wp2789851

As far as i know this does not restrict the port to just that mac-address though.

Re: associating a port with MAC address

So does this prevent other MAC addresses to access the port?
