AutoQoS for VoIP and Trust Boundary

I would like to use AutoQoS on my switch for Voice. In reading about AutoQos, it seems it is obviously imperative to define your trust boundary. This boundary should include the Voice router interfaces, but I do not have AutoQos available for my Gig router interfaces. I have found documentation on Cisco's site that says AutoQoS is not available on Gig interfaces on routers. How important is it that I cannot include the VoIP router's interface in my trust boundary? Would it be ineffective to use AutoQoS just on my switchports? The switch in reference is a Cisco 4507R+E. The router is a Cisco 3825. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
