Basic IP connectivity question

I just want to know that if a Layer 3 VLAN interface on the 4506 switch is created with an IP address that is in the same segment to a server, but the server is connected to a Cisco switch with no VLAN's (except the default VLAN) , then will there be IP connectivity between the 4506 and the server? The link between the two is a trunk.

thanks a lot

Gautam

No there won't be if the link is a trunk , if the link was just an access link then yes you would have connectivity . If you created a layer 3 vlan interface that was vlan 1 it would have connectivity , any other vlan it would not because a switch by default is all in vlan 1 .
