Best Way to Back-up the Cisco Devices (Routers or Switches)

Hi,

I don't know of any free Windows tool that can do this but as you've got only 4 devices, you could run a kron job on each device that will save the configs regularly and just save the system image once with corresponding copy command.

Hi,

kron:http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios-xml/ios/cns/configuration/xe-3s/asr1000/cns-cmd-sched.html

take note of the restriction about interactive commands so here to copy running to tftp you'll have to do this as command:

show run | redirect tftp://x.x.x.x  instead of  copy run tftp://x.x.x.x

You also have the Archive feature: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/fundamentals/command/reference/cf_a1.html#wp1018716

You can also try this:

archive

log config

logging enable

hidekeys

path tftp:///$h-

write-memory

time-period 10080

Explaination:

There are two ways to save your config to your remote station:

1.  When someone saves the config; and

2.  At an alloted time period, expressed in 10080 (weekly for me).
