Booting from Flash on Sup720 disk1: in Cat6500

We have just purchased two new Sup720's to replace Sup32's in our Cat6500 chassis. I've loaded a new image onto a Compact Flash card in disk1:.

- I've loaded the image into the Flash card in Slot1 (disk1)

What I can't do is get the Cat6500 to boot from the flash card. Instead it keeps booting from the image on the sup_bootdisk file.

Is it something to do with having to run the install command as stated at the bottom of the following extract or should I delete the sup-bootdisk file.

Extract of code;

From IOS try the following command-

boot system disk1:/s72033-ipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-18.SXF8.bin

save and reload and it should come up with the new image.

Hope that helps.

Hi

i think SUP720 have boot statement as sup-bootflash:imagename.

Thanks

The correct boot string to boot the specific image from your CF.

boot system flash disk1:s72033-ipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-18.SXF8.bin

Also don;t forget to remove, or adjust your existing bootstrings accordingly.

HTH,

Mark
