Bridging vlan

Hi,

I have the following scenario:

Switch -Trunk- Layer3 Switch which connects to another router “RouterB” on FE with no IP addresses

Certain vlans from the switch carried over the trunk are terminated on Layer3 Switch, however I want to bridge vlan 100 across to RouterB where it will be terminated.

How do I do this?

Hello Hadi,

depending on the model of L3 switch you could be able to use L2Tpv3.

vlan based 802.1Q you can decide on a per vlan basis if you want to terminate or to transport to the other side

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3t/12_3t2/feature/guide/gtl2tpv3.html#wp1043064

between two switches you can also think to use 802.1q tunneling but you would need a dedicated interface for vlans to be carried between the two sites

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Thanks for your help Giuseppe, The L3 Switch we use is 6524 that is connected to a 2811ISR.

BTW Isn't there an easier way to do this instead of configuring L2TP? It seems a bit complex for transporting a vlan across a router.
