Broadcast traffic on L2 network

Any tips for the best way to monitor to see how much traffic (particularly broadcast traffic) is on a L2 network? Would you just use a layer 3 interface and monitor that?

Thanks

Re: Broadcast traffic on L2 network

You can just put a host on a port and run wireshark. If they're all in the same vlan, then you'll see all of your broadcast traffic it the port that your wireshark host is on. You won't see broadcasts from other vlans though, since that breaks up your broadcast domains.
