Once the router has booted do a 'sh ver'
At the end it should show the config register which should be 0x2102
It it is not run the 'configuration-register 0x2102' then save the config by doing a 'wr mem'
Reload the router at all should be good.

Hi Dennis, did you write mem (copy run start..?)
use the command wr mem then reload and see what happens.

Check the config register, for most models it should be 0x2102 . If not then change it and reload.

this was the issue iv'e apparently got.
i ran first the wr mem from Tom Watts, but remembered that there also could be an conf register problem.
so i changed it into 0x2102 and all was well again
thanks everyone for the help
