Hello,

i want to reach a catalyst 2950 i connected to a 3560 catalyst. The 2950 is on switchmode trunk (dot1q) and the 3560 also. On the 3560 i can see details and the correct IP with CDP but i cannot reach them.

IP of my 3560:

10.138.128.3 /24

IP of my 2950:

10.138.26.67 /24

i didn't got a idea for now... checked anything.. can't reach via ICMP nor Telnet...

C2950 cant be reached

Veith,

What and where is the L3 ip routing done between the 2 subnets.

Are the 2 switches set to use the correct default gateways if they are set as layer 2 only.

May be post a simple network diagram and the full switch configs

Regards,
Alex.

C2950 cant be reached

Hello Veith.

To keep it simple, Can you configure an SVI and assign an ip address within the network 10.138.26.0 /24, so you can reach the 2950 from the 3560 at layer 2...

Once you configure the 3560 within the same broadcast domain as the 2950 make sure the vlan is allowed across the trunk between the two switches. You should be able to access it now.

Regards.
