c2960s ether-channel limit question

Hi,

I have WS-C2960S-F48TS-L switch with lanbase license:

#sh license

Index 1 Feature: lanlite

Period left: 0  minute  0  second

Index 2 Feature: lanbase

        Period left: Life time

        License Type: Permanent

        License State: Active, In Use

        License Priority: Medium

        License Count: Non-Counted

unfortunatelly I can't create more than 6 ether-channels:

(config)#int port-channel 7

                                     ^

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

(config-if)#channel-group 7

                                     ^

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

according to the documentation lanbase license should allowe me to create up to 48 ether-channels,

Could you tell what can be the issue with it?

Regards,

Pawel

c2960s ether-channel limit question

Hi,

The Catalyst 2960S only supports six port-channels, and when looking at the context sensitive help on the switch the port-channel interface number must be between 1 and 6.

This is documented in the EtherChannel Configuration Guidelines in the Configuring EtherChannels and Link-State Tracking section of the software configuration guide.

Follow these guidelines to avoid configuration problems:

  • Do not try to configure more than 6 EtherChannels on the switch stack.

Do you have the link showing support for 48 port-channels?

I believe the 2960 series has a maximum of 6.

What documentation did you find which states it can have a maximum of 48?

c2960s ether-channel limit question

Hi,

Sorry my bad, I missed information in the parentheses in the

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps6406/feature_set_comparison_2960-s.pdf

page 13.

Unfortunately you're right and there is only 6 ether-channels supported.

Thanks for the answers.
