We are trying to upgrade a c3750 stack using archive download-sw, however it wiped out the ios from all switches in the stack. What went wrong and how do I fix it?

This should help . why it wiped it out I don't know unless you used the force overwrite option and it got interuupted after that .

When you archive, it means you used the image with .tar extension. It expands this file into directory flash:. What I am saying is maybe it's not lost see below:

Switch#dir flash:

Directory of flash:/

   13 drwx 192 Mar 26 1993 01:20:14 +00:00 c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-44.SE

Switch#dir flash:c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-44.SE

Directory of flash:/c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-44.SE/

   14 -rwx 10519223 Mar 26 1993 01:19:02 +00:00 c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-44.SE.bin

If it is indeed lost, do not reboot the switch, archive again or better yet, copy tftp instead of archive and use the .bin image into the flash:.

Re: c3750 IOS upgrade gone bad

Thanks for the response. However, I tried that with no success. I received an error Unable to rename image for box 1. Some systems may have been left in an inconsistent state. And could not use the copy command successfully. Upon further inspection I found that all three switches had failed to receive the update and their original IOSs where gone.

Any idea as to how this might have occured?

Re: c3750 IOS upgrade gone bad

Thanks Glen,

Yes I am currently waitting for the switch to upload the bin so we can try again. The IOS was an ipservices-mz.122-25.SEE3 and I'm upgrading to 122-35.SE5 which is the same as the other members in the stack. The TOS was a couple revs back and I was upating when this happened.
