Hello,

We have a infrastructure of over 60 offices.  I am trying to work out what is acceptable LAN speeds on one of the sites going back and forward to the servers in the DataCentre.  The link to the DC is 100mb.  The file download in question is 2232104 KB

What is a resonable length of time to expect for file transfer?  What is the best way to calculate expected download times on the LAN or WAN?

Should uploads and downloads have similiar times.

Any help is appreciated.

Kevin

Actually the speed that you can achieve depends by the machines involved and their TCP stack efficiency.

In general, a single TCP sessions can use at least 60 or 70% of the actual bandwidth.,
