Can any one explain me clearly about IP Subnet Zero?
The link posted by Reza is quite good and has a nice explanation of the technical details of what constitutes subnet zero and the all ones subnet. I would just add a couple of comments.
- traditional IP subnetting advised to not use subnet zero or all ones subnet. Modern network addressing says that using either is fine.
- Earlier versions of IOS enforced the restriction on subnet zero but have never enforced the restriction of the all ones subnet. And in the early versions of IOS that defaulted to restricting subnet zero the subnet-zero command would allow use of that subnet.
- in versions of IOS since 12.0 use of both subnets is enabled by default.
