I am trying to connect 1G uplink from remote switch to 2960X 10G sfp port, but not able to change the port speed to 1G, as a result uplink is not coming up. Is it possible to reduce the 10G SFP module speed to 1G in 2960X switch

No, that is not possible.  You would need to use the same type of SFPs and speed on both sides.

You will need to replace the 10Gb SFP with a 1Gb one as it will not negotiate down.

The ports on the 2960x are SFP+ meaning they should support both 1Gb and 10Gb SFP's.
