Can I run VSS over Single-Mode fiber long range?

So I have 2 Cat 6509 currently in the same room and I use VSS. I would like to split these 2 switches up geographically on the campus and they would be approximately 2500' apart. I plan to user single-mode fiber with 2 10G LR links on each switch. Any help would be appreciated!

Yes this is possible.  But

Yes this is possible.  But you also need a pair of 1 Gbps LR for the heartbeat.

I've got a pair of VSS and half of the pair is 25 kms away.

As Leo also noted yes that

As Leo also noted yes that will work fine. It doesn't matter what optic (LR,SR, etc) you use as long as the VSL comes up you are fine

what you have to be care full with is that now you have to use single mode for one of  the uplink ports coming from your access switches
