Can't uplink from 4507 SupV 10GE to 6513 Sup 720 1000-SX SFP's

We are connecting using an LC connector fiber cable from a redundant Sup 6500 to a redundant Sup 4507. We cannot get the link to become active. We can connect from either Sup on the 6500 to the same modules installed in a 3700 switch - but cannot negotiate any link to the 4507 with either the 3700 or the 6500. We get a message "% WARNING: Interface GigabitEthernet1/6 is usable/operational only in gigabit

% uplink configuration when only one supervisor is present in the chassis

% in slot 1." when we try to do work on the interface with the SFP. Any thoughts?

Hi,

The only special command I am aware of is:

hw-module uplink select gigabitethernet (global configuration),

as the default is 10GB and then you must save the config and RELOAD the box.

Best regards,

Antonin

Hi,

When using redundant SUPV-10GEs the GE1/6 is not active. For more info please see the document beneath:

Best regards,

Thanks for the info Antonin, we were not aware of the port usages. We moved the GBIC's over to 1/3 and 2/3 and then tried 1/4 and 2/4 with no success with either of the 4 links. We have done zero config to the interfaces and wondering if we need to issue special commands to the 4507 interfaces on the Sup V to get them to uplink to the 720's on the 6500?

Thoughts?

That did it! we had a static hw-module uplink select tengigabiteithernet command in our global config. Thanks for the help!
