Can TN3270 traffic from an ESCON module be encrypted?

We're needing to ecrypt the 3270 traffic coming from our IBM mainframe. The sessions are terminated on a 7206 router with an ECPA4 ESCON adapter module (HP ESCON PA) or ECPA4.

Is the ESCON module able to encrypt the traffic between it and tn3270 clients? Or would I need to have the mainframe systems people look to encrypting before it gets to the ESCON adapter?

If the HP ESCON PA adapter cannot encrypt, what other options do I have with the router for encryption.

You can either get a third-party encryptor appliance or you could try using IPSec with GRE.
