Hi,

Yes, you can.  You can stack a combination of 3750G, 3750E and 3750X. as long as you are running the same exact software and feature set.

Hey hi,

Thank you for the reply ..... even i had the same idea .. but the documents in the cisco web says that 3750G can be stacked with 3750E series .... and n where it mentioned that it can be stacked with 3750X so i got that doubt and posted it .....

so you sure that it can be stacked if they are running the same software right ??????  Reza Sharifi ????

You can, but remember the the 3750E and X have a throughput of 64Gbps and for the 3750G is 32Gbps, so your capacity will be negotiated to 32Gbps when you have a mix of switches

From Cisco's doc:

Combining StackWise Plus and StackWise in a Single Stack

Cisco  Catalyst 3750-E and Catalyst 3750-X StackWise Plus and Cisco Catalyst  3750 StackWise switches can be combined in the same stack. When this  happens, the Cisco Catalyst 3750-E, or Catalyst 3750-Xswitches negotiate  from StackWise Plus mode down to StackWise mode. That is, they no  longer perform destination stripping. However, the Cisco Catalyst 3750-E  and the Catalyst 3750-X will retain its ability to perform local  switching.

Re: Can we Stack a 3750G-12S-S switch with a 3750X-48T switch ??

Hello,

Actually i have problem with my Cisco connection and i would like to find that problem.

i have 3 sites(1,2,3) connected together through fiber multi mode cable. The site 1 having the control room, the maximum distance between site (1 and 3) is 1.8 Km, the other distance(1 and 2) is 1.2 km and i already used 3750X switch and GIBIC GLC-FE 100Fx with support MM cable up to 2 KM.

i have in site (2 and 3) 10 cctv 3 mega pixel cameras and i check for the bandwidth is less than 100Mbps when i connected the 2 switches(2 and 3)to the switch in the site 1 there is a delay i thought maybe because of the bandwidth so i tried to connect only 1 camera but the same problem(delay).

i did not make any configuration for the switches

Can you please advise for any solution

3750E and 3750X share the same IOS filenames.

Yes, you can stack a 3750/3750G to a 3750E/3750X.  As what everyone tells you the entire stack should run the same IOS version and the same feature set.

The more important question you should be asking is:  What IOS version?

The 3750X is supported starting from IOS version 12.2(53)SE2.  Therefore you need to upgrade the IOS version of your current 3750G-12S to this version or your 3750X will not join (or alternatively, the 3750G-12S will not let the 3750X join because the "12S" doesn't know what the "X" is).

My recommendation is to upgrade your stack (and the new 3750X) to IOS version 12.2(55)SE5.

Re: Can we Stack a 3750G-12S-S switch with a 3750X-48T switch ??

Hi

Yes and NO

Yes a cisco 3750X can stack with a 3750G.

But it needs to IP-Base or IP-Services.

A 3750x-Lanbase CAN NOT be stacked with a 3750G.

So Reza is correct, but I think it needs to be clarified that the LAN base does not support stacking with a 3750G.

3750x LAN base can only stack with 3750x LAN base no other 3750 (since there are no other with the LAN base feature set for now than the 3750x Lan base). Fx it is not possible to stack a 3750x LAN base with a 3750x IPBase

3750x IPBase or above can stack with earlier 3750 switches as long as the software is the same version.

Good luck
