Can you assign 2 Vlans on a single port.

I have seen it on the IP phones and was wondering if this could be done on the data vlan. TIA

Re: Can you assign 2 Vlans on a single port.

You have to trunk your port, but your devices need to be able to tell the switch what vlan they want to come in on. Otherwise, if the traffic is untagged it will come in on vlan 1. Some server NICs will allow you to set the VLAN that they talk on, but most workstations don't. The reason you see it on phones is because the phone can be set to a certain vlan, and generally the pc connects to the phone. The phone generally comes in on vlan 1 and the phone comes in on another vlan. The switchport is trunked to allow vlan 1 and whatever vlan the phone is on.

Hope I understood your question. :)
