Can you have multiple default routes on an FWSM?

Hey all, we have a large Layer 3 network where I am at, basically it's like a big hotel for camp workers.

Our 100MB internet pipe is full every night.  We will be upgrading in the near future.  For now I would like to make use of another 100MB internet pipe we have that isn't getting used that much.

We have 2 6509's that have a default route to the FWSM inside interface.  Then on the FWSM it's default route is the demark for the outside ISP.  Could I create another "Outside" interface and put it on the other outside network and have them load share between the 2 outside connections?

Thanks in advance.

Can you have multiple default routes on an FWSM?

Hello Chris,

being a firewall you should be able to have multiple routes using different IP next-hops out the SAME interface.

taking in account this if you are able to connect the second pipe on the same IP subnet on the internal side you should be able to do this.

IF this is not possible for example because the IP subnet is part of public IP addresses of ISP1 I'm afraid it is not possible to achieve this

Hope to help
