CAT 4507R+E Sup 7L-E Management Interface Issue

Dear All

We are having a bizarre issue with a couple of our CAT 4507 with SUP 7LE, they all are running XE 03.05.01.E.

We have configured Management interface Fa1 for out of band mangament of the device, however we are seeing that port is not working (we cannot ping or even get ARP for directly attached devices)

What we can observed is that not packet can in or leave the device

anybody else have this issue before?, looks like and IOS Bug, but there is no specific documentation about the issue

Hi,

Is the out of band management interface part of a vrf or global

If you connect a device to it, does the link go to up and up mode?

Can you post your config?

Hi,

Yes the interface is associated with the default vrf " mgmtVrf" it cannot be changed nor deleted, The link goes to up and up, with any device connected to it, but it cannot reach any IP attached to the same network segment (and anything beyond of course).

What we see is the packet goes out of the interface but anything comes in.

Here it is the config, it is quite simple, I´m suspecting that it could be a bizarre bug related with VRF forwarding

interface FastEthernet1
 vrf forwarding mgmtVrf
 ip address 172.18.52.2 255.255.255.0
 load-interval 30
 speed auto
 duplex auto
end

Hi,

When you ping from the switch, are you using the vrf name?

example:

ping vrf mgmtVrf 172.18.52.1

Yes, in fact if I put this configuration in an other line card port, it works just fine
