Cat 6500 Modules

Hi, anybody knows where can I find information about the difference between the Cat 6500 Modules (classic, 63xx, 64xx, 67xx 6800 etc) . TIA

It is spread around in a number of documents and it is also not entirely clear how much of the 6500 architecture you are already familiar with.

In short -

classic line cards connect to the 32Gbps shared bus only

Fabric enabled cards can connect to the switch fabric and to the 32Gbps shared bus

Fabric only cards can only connect to the switch fabric.

Fabric enabled and fabric only have different connectors to the switch fabric ie. number of connections and speed of connections eg.

WS-X6548-GE-TX is fabric enabled with 1 x 8Gbps connection to the switch fabric

WS-X6748-GE-TX is a fabric only card with 2 x 20Gbps connections to the switch fabric

Probably best to start with the architecture paper which explains the different type of modules/connections within the 6500 -

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps708/prod_white_paper0900aecd80673385.html

Then use the following to dig deeper -

All modules - data sheets

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_relevant_interfaces_and_modules.html

Ethernet modules - 10/100 10/100/1000

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps708/product_data_sheet0900aecd8017376e.html

10GB 8 port -

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps708/prodqas0900aecd8073da5a.html

10GB 16 port -
