Dear Netpros,

Please help me to solve the issue with 6509 sup1A.

The problem is as below.

sup1A running in native mode with IOS c6sup11-jsv-mz.121-26.E3.

When i individually booting the suP1A it is all ok.Also the red forced-switchover working .

When i cold reboot the chassis then only the active in slot 1 comes up and the slot 2 sup1A fails with the following

STATUS LED ORANGE

SYSTEM LED GREEN

ACTIVE LED NIL

PWR MGMT LED RED

SWITCH LOAD LEVEL : DOWN 2 LINE SHOWS GREEN BARS.

Also in hyperterminal console no message.

I have to do the following to get the sp rommon>

Press the reset button on the 6509 front chassis then in console press ctrl+break to get SP rommon. Here enter boot slot0:c6sup11-jsv-mz.121-26.E3.It boots

Please what went wrong for not normal booting during cold reboot.

Thanks

Hi Swamy ,

Please check the config register setting on the standby supervisor by entering:

#remote login switch

#show version => look for the config-register.

It may have been corrupted and be something like ?0x0?.

If so enter:

#config terminal

#config-reg 0x2102

#exit

#write memory

Hope it helps you.

Thanks,

satish

Hi satish,

Router#remote login switch

Trying Switch ...

Entering CONSOLE for Switch

Type "^C^C^C" to end this session

Please the config given below

Router-sp#sh bootvar

BOOT variable = slot0:c6sup11-jsv-mz.121-26.E3,1

CONFIG_FILE variable =

BOOTLDR variable = bootflash:c6msfc-boot-mz.121-26.E3.bin

Configuration register is 0x2102

What else i can check.

swamy

Hi Swamy,

is that the output from the active sup or the standby sup. If that is the output from the active sup, then please paste the output of " show bootvar from the RP.

If that's the output from the standby sup, then you are missing the .bin extension in the filename given in the BOOTVARIABLE. Please set the vaiable again with the .bin extension in the filename, I think it should be Ok after that.
