Cat 6509 output drops issue

I facing strange issue with cat 6509 switch , we have enabled rspan for voice recording solution , entire voice vlan x is replicating to rspan vlan Y.

Few particular switches only allowed rspan vlan traffic in the trunk , but on the core switch trunk which connected to edge switch we are observing lot of output drops , is there any way we can fix this issue.

I have found one solution increase the buffer limit per interface …. Is there any limitation of 6509 to increase the buffer limit for more than one interface?

Re: Cat 6509 output drops issue

Hello Sunil,

deploying a dedicated L2 end to end path for RSPAN traffic would be a better solution, but the workaround you have used is acceptable.

Clearly you are facing the issue of having multiple small frames to be carried on the rspan vlan and you had to increase the buffer size.

Also to be noted one would expect output drops to be on the edge switch to core switch direction but you say it is the opposite and I agree this looks like strange.

Hope to help
