cat 6509 sup720 swapout procedure

Hi

Can anyone tell me the sequence of events I need to take when swapping out my backup sup720 in my cat 6509 running normal IOS.

when I slot in the new one, how do I know its fully booted in the background?

How would i check what IOS is on it? would I do a dir slavedisk0: ?

how would i copy my IOS to it, and also make sure the correct config is on there?

Carl,

You need to put the new Sup is spare chassis and load the same exact IOS as your primary Sup and make sure every thing is working ok before you put it in the production chassis.  Once you put it in the production chassis. do a "sh redun" and at this time backup Sup should show as hot stand-by,

I dont have a spare chassis to do this,

I will need to take down my live system, can you please tell me the exact process for this? i.e how to copy the fiels and where to etc
