Could anybody please tell me the difference between a Cat IOS and a normal IOS? Where it is being used ?

Hi George,
CatOS is the older (for switches) version of the operating software/firmware. CatOS uses three base commands: set, clear, and show.
IOS is the traditional operating system for (Cisco) routers. It has a much broader command set.
