Catalyst 2940 Resetting (Lost PW)

Trying ot reset Catalyst 2940 after losing password.

I pressed the "mode" button upon power-on to start the resetting.

After that, I tried commands like flash_init and boot, etc.

But the old config is still there.

How do I start fresh?

Thanks.

Have you followed the guide?

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps628/products_password_recovery09186a0080094184.shtml

Once you are in ROMMON, you have to initialise the flash and rename the config file so the switch boots without a config. You can then either change the password or start again.

Yes I've referred to Cisco manuals but following it is difficult. haha..

Rename using "rename?"  of the start config?

Thanks!

I don't understand, if you simply follow the step by step in the article above it should work?

Yea, I'll try again when I get home.

Again, thanks for the link.

UPDATE: Turns out the way I did was already working. haha.  Thank you all!
