Catalyst 2950 vlan setup

I've got a 3750G which I've got set up with multiple vlans, two of which have routable IP addresses, by which I can manage the 3750G. I'd like to be able to set up a 2950 the same way, but it looks like I have to assign IP addresses to a specific port. Am I just confused, or is this the case? If it is, is there any IOS version, or other way to get around this?

Thanks,

-Ben

Re: Catalyst 2950 vlan setup

2950 is a Layer2 switch and only one management IP is allowed at the same time.

3750 is a Layer3 switch which allows you to route between Vlans.

Re: Catalyst 2950 vlan setup

Any 2900 series switch is layer 2 only , you need at least a 3550 series or above for layer 3 functionality.
