Hi,

Does this version supports wireless?

Switch Ports Model              SW Version        SW Image              Mode

------ ----- -----              ----------        ----------            ----

     1 56    WS-C3850-48P       03.02.03.SE       cat3k_caa-universalk9 INSTALL

Also on sh ver, it displayed

System image file is "flash:packages.conf"

How would you know the .bin file used?  How can you check on the switch?

TIA

PF

Hi,

In order to check the .bin you issue the show flash command, that version should support wireless, see the link below with the release notes:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3850/software/release/3se/release_notes/OL_30562_01.html

Hope this helps.

Does this version supports wireless?

What do you mean by this?  As a controller?  As a switch to directly connect AP?  Both?

Leo,

Thanks for your reply.  Sorry, what I meant was configure the switch as a wireless mobility controller.

Thanks.

PF

For MC/MA, you need IP Base.  But you also need your 3850 to have AP licenses as well and your AP has to be directly connected to the appliance.

Thanks Leo.

functionality can be in the same 3850 switch, another 3850 switch or 5508/5760 centralized controller). By default, when you enable wireless management, switch will act as Mobility Agent (MA) & not able to register an AP without a MC since license are reside on MC.
we will ensure we will have latest software code on this switch. At the time of this write up, IOS-XE 3.2.3SE is the latest code available for this 3850 platform. You can refer 3850 IOS-XE 3.2.x SE release note for more details of the features/restrictions/etc.
In order to begin the upgrade process, you must download the IOS-XE .bin file from the Cisco web site and place it in the flash of your active switch. The process that is used in order to copy the file to the switch is not covered in this document.
When you copy the .bin file to a single switch, the install process replicates the file to the other switches in the stack. Once the file is present, enter this command:
3850-stack#
software install file flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.03.01.SE.150-1.EZ1.bin
switch 1-2.
