Hi,

I need to design a solution with a catalyst 4507R-E chassi with redundant supervisors (WS-X45-SUP6L-E), and i need 6 SFP's to interconect to 5 remote floors. It's possible use both supervisors slots, or i can't use the redundant supervisors slots ? With this option it's possible to use the two 10GE slots from both supervisors with SFP adaptors and put the 6 SFP's on it ?

Thanks !!!

Hello Carlos,

yes it is possible to use the SFP ports on the standby supervisor

see

switch>sh cdp n | exclude SEP

Capability Codes: R - Router, T - Trans Bridge, B - Source Route Bridge

S - Switch, H - Host, I - IGMP, r - Repeater, P - Phone,

D - Remote, C - CVTA, M - Two-port Mac Relay

Device ID Local Intrfce Holdtme Capability Platform Port ID

router1

Ten 3/1 127 R S I WS-C6509- Ten 4/2

router2

Ten 4/1 130 R S I WS-C6509- Ten 4/2

switch>sh module

Chassis Type : WS-C4507R-E

Power consumed by backplane : 40 Watts

Mod Ports Card Type Model Serial No.

---+-----+--------------------------------------+------------------+-----------

1 48 10/100BaseTX (RJ45)V WS-X4148-RJ45V JAE0621003W

3 6 Sup II+10GE 10GE (X2), 1000BaseX (SFP) WS-X4013+10GE JAE1237ULNB

4 6 Sup II+10GE 10GE (X2), 1000BaseX (SFP) WS-X4013+10GE JAE1237ULNZ

5 48 10/100/1000BaseT (RJ45)V, Cisco/IEEE WS-X4548-GB-RJ45V JAE1221IZPR

6 48 10/100/1000BaseT (RJ45)V, Cisco/IEEE WS-X4548-GB-RJ45V JAE1238UXKZ

This is an handy feature and works well on previous supervisor models I would expect to work also on the sup 6 L -E

Hope to help

Giuseppe
