Catalyst 5509 DHCP Client

Hi,

I have a catalyst 5509 with a RSM. I was wondering if it is possible to get this switch to pull a DHCP IP address from a cable modem.

I have tryed setting the sc0 interface to 0.0.0.0 and getting a dhcp address it fails in the process when adding the route.

I know there is a command "ip address DHCP" but im not sure if that will work with my system, and can't seem to find out.

Router needs to pull IP address from DHCP via cable modem. DHCP server should be supported if you have IOS 12.1(x) on the RSFC, as the feature was introduced since 12.0(x)T, all the 12.1(x) mainline images should have it. Just to verify it, I just loaded 12.1(19) in my lab switch and all the DHCP related commands are there.I think I may point to an issue with "ip helper-address" on your Router. Can you send me a copy of your running config ( show run ) and a ( show version ) as well as a more detailed description of the issue.
