Hi Expert,
I have 8 switch stack consisting of six WS-C3550-48P and two WS-C3750G-16TD running software vesrion 12.2(25) SEB1. When I added new C3750v2-24PS (running image 12.2(50) SE5) in stack so I up-graded the image of existing 8 switches with latest veriosn 12.2(50) SE5. Once I have done with the upgrade then all ports of my stack switches went down after around five minuts. Could any one please tell me the root cause of this issue? Is it image compatibility issue with existing switches or something else?
Looking forward.

Hi,
You mean 3750 right?
Do you have the same license level installed in all your switches?
from the 3750 Q&A
Q. Does it cost more for a Layer 3 or special-features license?

Hi,
Yes existing eight switches are having same image, 8 switches (6 C3750-48P and two C3750G-16TD) stack are fully stack-ring and working well with having 12.2(25) SEB1. But when i add one more 3750Gv2-234PS IOS ver 12.2(50)SEB1, for this I to up-graded the IOS version for exisitng stack from 12.2(25) SEB1 to 12.2(50) SE5. Once up-grade done then all ports of existing 8 catalyst 3750 went down. I mean port light become amber for all prots. This is the issue which currently I am facing

You should upgrade the IOS on the stack before adding the new switch. Then upgrade the IOS on the new switch as an standalone switch. Now all switches have the same exact IOS and license level. Then add the new switch to the stack as a member.

Hi Reza,
Many thanks for your support. I had performed the steps as mentioned below:
1. I performed the IOS Up-grade one by one with all 8 stack switches after removing the stack and up-links cables.
2. Then I did the stacking to get the fully stack-ring bandwidth.
3. Once i done all above then I added new switch (9th) which already has same IOS version which i have done with all above eight switches.
Result: all ports went amber
However, one time more i will try to up-grade all switches one by one after removing all stack and uplink cables.

Hi Altaf,
You do not need to upgrade your stack switches one at the time. You can upgrade the entire stack (all 8 switches) at once using the .tar file. Please refer to this document on how to do that:

Result: all ports went amber
Did you power up the 9th switch and then insert the stack cable?

Hi,
Leo just noted a very good point (Happy New Year Leo. You have to tun off the new switch first then connect the stack cable and then turn it on
