catIOS ver 7.6(9) unable to alarm ports going connected or disconnected

I used to locate machines on the switches 6500 family just removing or connecting it the cable on it and the switch (by Telnet) inform me witch port it's using. But after the upgrade to this new catios version this feature seems deactivated. what is the command to activate the port monitoring on the terminal?

I think you can configure SPAN. The Switched Port Analyzer (SPAN) feature, which is sometimes called port mirroring or port monitoring, selects network traffic for analysis by a network analyzer.
