CCME and VOIP.MS "this number has not yet been assigned" outbound call failure

Nadir Khan

Level 1

Hello I have been trying to get this working all day.  I am using a 2800 ISR router with voice capabilities.  I am trying to use Voip.ms for over a sip trunk to make calls but i get a voice message that says "this number has not yet been assigned, please contact technical support" everytime i dial an external number.  I am registered to their server, it seems.  From the debugging it looks like the server is trying to register my individual extensions and failing the calls comig from those extensions.  What should i do?  please help.

here is the debug information:  thanks in advance

Update: Since the last posting.  I have contacted the voip.ms support.  As per their request i created a sub-account and configured only one dial-peer as opposed to multiple dial-peers.  They also suggested that i use .T digit manipulation method instead of the 10 digit digit manipulation i am used to.  It is still not working.  By now i am very frustrated.  Someone please help.

Hello Nadir,

I may be able to assist. Please post or attach your 'show run' from the ISR 2800 you are using. Also, please post your 'show version'.

Thank you.

Hi Nadir,

I looked over your configuration. I have a couple questions.

1) Are you testing the call out from phones that are registered to this ISR 2821?

2) If not, are you testing from phones connected on the other router listed as OFFICE-LINX?

3) When dialling out are you using an exit digit like "9" then your outgoing number? Please provide an example of a test number you are dialling that fails.

Thank you,

Jordan E

Cranbrook, BC

Hello JellaSonCisco, How are you doing?  following are the answers to the questions

1) I am testing the calls from extensions configuared from the cisco 2800 router.  Thats the only router in the network.  The extensions are configured with the ephone-dn command in the router.( ie: ephone-dn 1 and ephone-dn 2).

2) Office-linx is a Voice mail and Collaboration services Server, i am sip trunking to that for voice mail and IVR.

3)i am not using an exit digit.  i am dialing straight 10 digits to my cell phone ( ie 6478571234)

Still having issues.  I rebooted the router a  few times since my last update.  Really not sure what i am supposed to do right now.

Hello Nadir,

I believe your issue may be related to the registration of your extension numbers and possible needing a domain in your configuration. Please adjust your configuration as per the below bold items and test. Please advise how it goes. Thanks. Jordan

Hello Jellasoncisco, I have made the changes that you have suggested.  Stilll no go.  Do i need to configure a translation pattern?  do I need to get an incoming DID before it will work.  I am understanding why this is not working.  I dont have any sip bindings, actually my router doesnt even support dial-peer based bindings.  Anyways i am pasting the traces.  let me know what you think.  Thanks again.

Did you find a solution to this? I'm facing the same problem.

I know this is *way* late to the game, but having run into this issue and not found a resolution elsewhere, I figured I'd post to help the next person.

For me, calls would actually work for about a minute after my 2821 had registered with voip.ms, and if I made a call in that magic window, then I'd get another minute or so's grace, then the default behavior would revert.

Turns out it was my firewall killing off idle UDP sessions. I use pfsense, where the default timeout for UDP states is ~60 seconds. Increasing this to a few seconds above the expires value for the registrar in sip-ua fixed my issue
