Hi there,
I'm having some difficulty changing the local password on a Catalyst 2950. I've logged in through Telnet and have had no problem changing the secret, but for some reason I'm having trouble with the local username/password pair. Can you help me out with this?
Thank you,
Jason

Jason,
If you're using the local database on the router, you can see it with ''sh run | i username''
To remove a user, you do:
no username
What's the problem that you're having?

The problem I'm having is that I don't know how to change the local password. Can I do this without removing the current username?

What do you mean with local password? The enable password?
To change the enable password, you do:
enable password
or
enable secret

As Suggested if you want to change the enable password or enable secret password just configure the following thing
Router(config)#enable password cisco
Router(config)#enable secret peter
and if you want to change the local database username password,if you do no then you remove the username and once aging create the username with new password.
username admin priv 15 password cisco
username bob priv 7 password cisco
Hope to Help !!
