CISCO 2960 %SUPQ-4-CPUHB_RECV_STARVE ERROR

Hi,

I'm using a cisco switch WS-C2960-8TC-L which is showing this error message several times almost every day:

%SUPQ-4-CPUHB_RECV_STARVE: Still seeing receive queue stuck after throttling.

I have lost connectivity with it several times, Is it related with this error?

The switch is attached to an identical switch by port fastethernet 0/8. It also has two other ports attached to PCs but they have been in a not connect state all this time.

The IOS software in the device is: Version 12.2(35)SE5, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

CISCO 2960 %SUPQ-4-CPUHB_RECV_STARVE ERROR

Hello Ivanka,

This is a well known bug in 12.2(35)SE5.  Please have a look at the info below and also the link that will explain it in more detail.  I would recomend looking at an upgrade path as 12.2.(35)SE5 is qutie old (2007) and we have fixed many bugs and defects since then.

Bug ID: CSCsx29696

Symptom:
Connectivity issues, with following messages.
%SUPQ-4-CPUHB_RECV_STARVE: Still seeing receive queue stuck after throttling
Conditions:
The "cpu-queue-frames" section of the output of "show controllers cpu-interface" command needs
to show non-zero counts for one or more queues in the "hol-block" column; otherwise, the
system is having some other problem.
This problem may affect switch platforms other than the Catalyst 3750, including the 2960, 2970,
and 3560.
Workaround:
None.

CISCO 2960 %SUPQ-4-CPUHB_RECV_STARVE ERROR

Thanks a lot for your help. It's really useful information.

I checked that the "cpu-queue-frames" section of the output of "show controllers cpu-interface" command shows zero counts for all queues in the "hol-block" column. Is it a symptom of another problem? Would be an upgrade enough to solve all these problems?

Thx.

CISCO 2960 %SUPQ-4-CPUHB_RECV_STARVE ERROR

After upgrading to the latest ios version (15.0(2)SE5) I'm still having the same problem.

The "cpu-queue-frames" section of the output of "show controllers cpu-interface" command

shows zero counts for all queues in the "hol-block".
