Cisco 4506 switch creating High Noise

Hi,

We have a Cisco 4506 switch which is creating high noise if having two power supplies. If i remove any one of the power supply noise reduces and works normally.

Looks show environment output is ok, but not able to identify the exact issue.

Cisco 4506 switch creating High Noise

Hi,

Usually high noise come from a bad fan or a malfunction fan.

Call TAC and open a case and RMA the part if need to.

Try removing the fan.  You have 30 seconds to put the fan back in before the chassis shuts down.

So remove the fan and observe if the squeeling dies down.  If it does, then you need to RMA the fan module.

If not, then either one of the PS has a faulty fan.

Cisco 4506 switch creating High Noise

Hi Guys,

Thank you for replying, we have done a re-inseration of FAN tray but no use. If i run the chassis with single power suplly it works fine and no noise. Problems comes only when both the power supplies are ON.

Even we tried exchanging both the power supplie but no luck.
