Hi,

I have a c4510 switch with cat4500es8-UNIVERSAL-M sw version. I am trying to configure global QOS but the qos command isn't working.

Enabling QoS Globally

To enable QoS globally, perform this task:

Command
Purpose

Step 1

Switch# conf terminal

Enter configuration mode.

Step 2

Switch(config)# qos

Enables QoS on the switch.

Use the no qos command to globally disable QoS.

Does someone know how to configure it?

Thank you!

Hi

It depends on the supervisor what type of qos is supported

Try mls qos if its not that its going to be some type of auto qos

whats the sup , show module will show you that will give us more info

Hi Mark,

WS-X45-SUP8-E is the model.

auto qos global compact works but I don't want to configure auto qos...

mls qos doesn't work.

Hi

mls qos is not supported on that SUP only auto qos , what exactly are you trying to do , if you don't want to enable auto qos globally you could enable it just per interface auto qos trust dscp or other option use MQC qos

This doc shows what your SUP supports on newer images

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/release/note/OL_32143-01.html

Hi,

I wanted to enable qos globally and per interface. If only auto qos is possible globally then I will configure qos just on interface because I don't want to configure auto qos...

Do you have any documentation about qos for his type of supervisor?

Thanks!!

Here is the link to Cisco website where 4500 config docs are , you will need to match it against the current ios-xe your running

Hello,

These uses MQC based Qos

Please use this as  a guide.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/XE35-0XO/configuration/guide/config/qos_mrg.html

Hope this helps,

Madhu

Here is basically the summary you create the Qos Policy.

MQC-based QoS Configuration

To apply QoS, you use the Modular QoS Command-Line Interface (MQC), which is a CLI structure that allows you to complete the following tasks:

  • Specify the matching criteria used to define a traffic class.
  • Create a traffic policy (policy map). The traffic policy defines the QoS policy actions to be taken for each traffic class.
  • Apply the policy actions specified in the policy map to an interface, VLAN, or port and VLAN.

Thanks,

Madhu
