Cisco 6509 Auto QoS

I have used the autoqos on lower end Catalyst switches before to configure QoS at layer 2.

Is the autoqos similar on the Catalyst 6500 IOS.

Is there an autoqos configuration for layer 3 switchports or do you have to manually define policy-maps and service-policies for layer 3 ports?

I am assuming from your post that your 6500 is running layer 3 (with CEF). Ensure that you have bandwidth configured on the interface, an IP address, and the interface is administratively enabled. Command:

router(config)# autoqos voip

*this will create the class and policy maps needed to prioritize voice and rtp applications only
