Cisco 6509 Sup720 Redundancy Question

Hi. i have two SUP 720 in cisco 6500 switch running in IOS mode.  ( Recently upgraded from CAT to OS )

show redundancy is showing different Image set in Image Version ( 12.2 - 18 Active ) and ( 12.2- 33 Standby )

My question is, do i need to be worried about it? Like if failover happen, will it cause any issues? except 2 ,3 minute disconnection because standby SUP is in Cold mode?

Also i have 12.2 (18) IOS in External Disk of both SUP.

its boothflash that is having different IOS on both SUP.

any helpful information will be appreciated.

Cisco 6509 Sup720 Redundancy Question

Yes you are correct. As the redundancy state of standby module is in STANDBY COLD there would be delay in failover(i.e when the ctive goes down and standby taking over the active role) other than that there is nothing much to worry about.

But still as a best practice it is advisable to have same software version on Active and Standby module .

Cisco 6509 Sup720 Redundancy Question

thank you for your response Inayat.

i have few questions which i am unable to find answers for, i hope if you can educate me.

1- How can i confirm my running config is getting saved to secondary SUP NVRAM? or if i can see running config of backup SUP?

2- If my Primary SUP Failes then Secondary sup will load with 12.2 (18)  or   12.2(33) ?

3- same question if there are different IOS in External Flash Disk0(bootflash of MSFC)   and Sup-BootFlash(SP/SUP), then which path is preferred to load IOS?
