Cisco 827 flash problem

Hi,

I have a Cisco 827-4V with 16MB flash, but if i try to copy a file larger than 8MB it gives me an error that there is no space.

But the 4 extra megas are there. I need this space to boot 12.4 IOS that are bigger than 8 MB.

Does anybody knows what would be happening?

Here is some information:

sh flash:

System flash directory:
No files in System flash
[0 bytes used, 12320764 available, 12320764 total]
12288K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write)

sh flash: summary
Partition   Size    Used      Free      Bank-Size  State          Copy Mode
  1        12031K      0K    12031K     1024K      Read/Write     Direct
                                     +  1024K
                                     +  1024K
                                     +  1024K
                                     +  1024K
                                     +  1024K
                                     +  1024K
                                     +  1024K
                                     +  4096K
12288K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write)

It seems that the last block (4096K) can't be mixed with the others (1024K)

Thank you,

Andoni.

The size of c820-k9osv6y6-mz.123-8.T11.bin is of 10014940  bytes. And I have to boot it from tftp.

There is a workaround for this??

Thak you in advance.

This is wierd.

YOu can copy c820-v6y6-mz.123-26.bin but you can't copy c820-k9osv6y6-mz.123-8.T11.bin?  Have you tried copying another version of the IOS?

Hello leolaohoo,

I can copy c820-v6y6-mz.123-26.bin because is smaller than 8 MB (I think)

c820-v6y6-mz.123-26.bin      6918948 bytes

c820-k9osv6y6-mz.123-8.T11.bin      10014940 bytes

Thank you in advance,

Andoni.

Yes, but the flash is 12320764 size.  It's more than your 10mb IOS ... by the way, what TFTP client are you using?  Are you using TFTP32?

Hi,

Look at the show flash: detail , it seems that the last bloxk size of 4 KB can't be mixed with the previous of 1KB. I don't know if it's posible to erase webflash: and add it to flash: it seems that the 827-4V is toos old  .

I use the tftp server tftpd-hpa package in my linux sustem (ubuntu), no tftp client, but iI have installed the tftp-hpa package too.

I hace copied other IOS to the flash, and it seems the only problem is to be bigger than 8MB.

Again, any workaround??

Thank you in advance,

Andoni.

I don't know if you can use this, but can you try using "TFTP32"?  Some TFTP clients have difficulties transfering very large files.

Hi,

I have made a probe with a notebook and I've copied the file correctly to the notebook:

tftp> get c820-k9osv6y6-mz.123-8.T11.bin
getting from 192.168.1.2:c820-k9osv6y6-mz.123-8.T11.bin to c820-k9osv6y6-mz.123-8.T11.bin [octet]
Received 10014940 bytes in 44.2 seconds [1811104 bit/s]

tftp> quit
andoni@andoni-txiki:/tmp$ ls -lrt

-rw-r--r-- 1 andoni andoni 10014940 2010-08-04 00:27 c820-k9osv6y6-mz.123-8.T11.bin

Thank you again,

Andoni.

IF this is resolved, can you mark this topic as "Answered"?  Thanks.

Hello,

The issue is not  resolved, I can copy from tftp server to my notebook, but I can't  copy from the tftp server to the flash memory of the router. That is what I need. I will try the tftp32 tftp server later.

Thank you in advance,

Andoni.
