Cisco 861 and NAT Hairpinning

Hello, all --

I have been banging my head against this for a little while.  Is there some way to get the 861 to support NAT hairpinning?  I've looked a the NAT on a stick page and don't know if that what I should be doing.  Do I need a loopback interface?  Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks --

Robert

EDIT:

I have set up NVI, which -- if I understand it right -- should solve all of my problems.  However, I still can't seem to get my inside servers by an outside IP address.  Am I misunderstanding NVI??

Thanks --

Robert

Dear Robert,

one option is to make a static mapping of the outside (public) IP address to the inside (private) IP address.

While you have an overloaded dialer in use, the DNS requests are anyway rewritten with each NAT.

another option would be a second DNS server pointing to the internal assigned server IP addresses.

A third option, (in case it only concerns accessing a WebServer from inside) simply use a proxy what is in fact a fast and simple task to have this operational on Apache2

Regards,

David.
