Cisco 871 Routing Loops

I have the following setup.

1. Cisco 871 router used as and inet router

2. Cisco 871 router which forms a vpn tunnel and only tunnels certain traffic.

The whole purpose of this setup is to be able to have a pc plugged into the inet router and use a static route that will send specified traffic to the LAN side of the vpn router which in turn would send it back over the tunnel.

Seems this is not working as thought it would and I was not sure if some out there had some suggestions. Are there some limitations on being able to send traffic back thru the LAN interface of the 871? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,

jd

Re: Cisco 871 Routing Loops

so pc's default gateway is the inet 871 router and this inet router should route packet back to the vpn router with a static route? this is definitely possible and should work.

try some ping tests to see if the packet is routed and reaching the ethernet interface of the vpn router. if yes, then the issue is not the inet router but the vpn routers tunnel config.
