Cisco Catalyst 2948G-L3 doesn't boot

I have a Cisco Catalyst 2948G-L3 in my lab environment. The router doesn't boot anymore.

As you can see, the firmware image is corrupted somehow. Is there ANY way to recover the image file.

So... is the only way to recover the router replacing the NVRAM chip or can the file be recovered by another way?

The set of commands is limited when the firmware is not loaded.

Re: Cisco Catalyst 2948G-L3 doesn't boot

(second try...)

The current rommon version is older than required version. --- "Perform file transfer from the ROM monitor with either Cisco IOS Release 12.0(7)W5(15a) or later."

And as you can see, the rommon version of the device is:

...

The router doesn't recognize xmodem -command.

Should I just recycle this piece of hardware? Can I order somewhere/somehow nvram -chip containing a valid version of uncorrupted version of boot image?

RMA the switch.
