We have two units of the cisco 2960, both link using the Gigabit port.
Recently, both switches hang and all the leds are flashing. All the connection to the switches breaks. The only way to resolve this problem is to restart the switches. This happen only once after about more than half a year of operation.
I have search around but could not find any information what causes the switch to hang. Do you guys have any ideas? And how can this be prevent fom happening again?

Hi
The best way to crack this out is to have logging enabled on your switch and send the same to the external syslog server so that all the activities can be logged on to it.
Once your switch gets hanged you can verify the latest log message sent to the server to verify what went wrong in your switch.
You can also verify the ios code running in your switch for any abnormal bugs which may also make your box to freeze down.

Thanks,
We setup a syslog server, so now we are monitoring any abnormality from the siwtches.
