Hello,

I am having issues with the flash on my cisco. I had to tftp from rommon into a backup ios I had. Once in the ios I did the following

Switch#dir
Directory of bootflash:/

No files in directory

61341696 bytes total (6188180 bytes free)

but when I do this all ios's that I thought I removed are still there. I am unable to tftp any ios over due to no space. How do I clear up the space?

Switch#dir /all
Directory of bootflash:/

1 -rwx 12535560 Feb 9 2007 18:56:04 +00:00 [cat4000-i9s-mz.122-25.EWA7.bin]
2 -rwx 12026632 May 4 2007 10:32:34 +00:00 [copy]
3 -rwx 12026632 May 4 2007 10:55:24 +00:00 [cat4500-ipbasek9-mz.122-31.SG.bin]

61341696 bytes total (6188180 bytes free)

Thanks in advance

Catalyst 4K and 6K, particularly the old/legacy IOS, have an "insurance" against accidental erasure of the IOS. Like Windows OS, once the "delete" command has been entered the deleted file(s) goes into a "purgatory" and can only be flushed using the command "squeeze".

That worked, thanks Leo. Can you confirm if cat4500-entservices-mz.150-2.SG11.bin Will work on the WS-C4948 10GE switch. For some reason it won't load even if I set the boot bootflash:cat4500-entservices-mz.150-2.SG11.bin. It keeps dumping me back into rommon. Or should I stick to the ip base ones?

The file "cat4500-entservices-mz.150-2.SG11.bin" is compatible with a 4948-10GE, HOWEVER, I suspect this IOS require a ROMmon upgrade, to 12.2(31r)SGA7before an IOS upgrade can be achieved.
