Cisco Catalyst 5505 Console Connection Problem

I have recently purchased a Cisco Catalyst 5505 with a Supervisor Engine III-NFFC II (WS-X5530-E3A) card. I am unable to hyperterminal into the switch using 9600-8-N-1-None. I have attempted using the Cisco console cable, a DB9-RJ45 with a console/rollover cable, standard network cable, and pure straight through (i.e. pin 1-1, 2-2, etc.) cable. Control-break does not seem to have an effect. Nothing seems to be working. Please provide "how-to" on consoling into the switch. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

It should work with a db9 and a straight thru cable , otherwise you may have to goof around with the speed settings as it is possible someone messed around with the config register .

Do you mean a standard network cable that some refer to as a straight through or do you mean a pin for pin matched cable?
